It’s that time: Our 3 year came and went with me in California and him at GenCon this year. We’ve both been soo busy it’s been impossible to find a time in which to celebrate so I had to wait until he came home from PAX Prime.
I had decided that I was going to get him a cooler for our 3 year. I know that sounds stupid but we don’t have one and I once had a very particular cooler that was perfect for everything and they happened to have the same one at Big Lots on sale, so he totally got the same cooler. It was also enough on sale (over half off) that I was able to come up with an idea on what to do with the rest of the money I had put aside for the cooler and decided to do a picnic.
My original plan would be to invite people over to do a grill up for the holiday weekend and get some extra street corn, steelhead trout, and pull together some sides. However, not a single person was actually available so I went to plan B, wherein a struggled about what to do, went to World Market to get a bottle opener, found a sushi set for $6, and then built a sushi picnic around that.
We went to Mt. Bonnel, where we went after our first date and had a super classy picnic that we both enjoyed and had a great view of the city as the sun went down. All and all it was super romantic, unique, and we even had some sushi left over because I may have gone a little overboard. Still, NOM.
P.S. I nabbed the sushi from my local grocery store because I wasn’t totally sure what he would like and I got the best variety for the price that way. However, the sushi also happened to be not half bad, especially for the price. 🙂
