Thrifty Thursday: Wendy Davis 5 Fingers

I’ve been training to do a 5k in November. I decided to up my game and get an internal bladder for the Camelbak I thrifted for $3 a few months ago. It’s a Dream line Camelbak from 2004 or 2005. I don’t trust getting the bladder second hand on these because of bacteria, germs, and sanitary issues. So I finally went in to Whole Earth Provision Co. to pick one up. I was not shoe shopping.
But I have wanted a pair of five fingers for a while. The boy has an all back pair and he uses them a lot because they help his back (he has a lower back injury) and I have a pair of Skeletoes that are water shoes I got for when we went to Schlitterbahn last year for our 2 year and you can check them out in that post. In addition to my desire, I found a pair at 60% off that had the nice sole to them (they have 3 thicknesses of sole and this is the rugged one so I can go walking or hiking in them). They are also hideous to most people. Which is fine by me because who is going to try to steal them. In addition to my freakishly small shoe size, it’s an extra deterrent. As a bonus, they are colored like the Wendy Davis Mizunos, but they’re just Vibrams. So it all works out. The one thing that will need to be replaced are the laces, they’re an awful banana yellow that is somehow not bright enough. I plan to nab some neon orange ones in the near future.

Pro Tip: How to care for your five fingers, don’t buy toe socks, just use an isopropyl alcohol solution and spray them after you wear them, it will kill bacteria. You can also wash them in the washer and hand dry them, just read their label.
